Dr. dr. Trika Irianta, Sp.OG(K)
The Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) Makassar, has been officially authorized under the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia No. 463/E/O/2024.
This program is one of the three study programs managed by the Faculty of Medicine, UMI, which was established in 1992 and has since produced thousands of alumni serving across various regions of Indonesia.
Currently, the Faculty of Medicine UMI offers two other study programs — the Bachelor of Medicine Program and the Professional Doctor Program — both of which have achieved “Excellent” accreditation from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes).
Professional Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist (Medical Expert):
A medical specialist capable of providing holistic, comprehensive, and evidence-based healthcare services for women’s reproductive health and maternal care. Possesses strong scientific insight and advanced clinical skills, accompanied by faith and devotion to God Almighty, upholding humanity, professional ethics, and moral integrity. Graduates are lifelong learners who actively contribute to improving public health, demonstrating patriotism, and fulfilling their social responsibilities.
Decision Maker:
An individual who is able to think systematically and analytically in addressing obstetrics and gynecology issues comprehensively. Capable of making quick, accurate, and accountable decisions based on up-to-date medical knowledge and patient safety principles.
Communicator:
A specialist who demonstrates effective and empathetic interpersonal communication when interacting with patients, families, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals. Able to convey medical information clearly while respecting patients’ cultural, social, and religious values.
Leader:
An individual with leadership qualities, high integrity, and the ability to lead healthcare teams. Skilled in identifying and strategically solving problems by empowering all team members and available resources to improve the quality of obstetrics and gynecology services.
Manager:
A professional capable of efficiently and effectively managing resources in healthcare service delivery. Possesses managerial competence in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating reproductive health programs and collaborating across sectors.
Researcher:
A critical and innovative individual capable of conducting relevant scientific research in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. Able to utilize information technology and multidisciplinary approaches to address global health challenges and apply research findings to enhance the quality of healthcare services for society.
Muhsin:
A specialist who understands and practices the values of iman (faith), Islam, and ihsan (excellence) in medical practice. Places ethics and moral character as the foundation of professional conduct, applies fiqh principles in medical decision-making, and consistently works within the framework of sharia, promoting mutual respect and collaboration.
To produce high-quality obstetrics and gynecology specialists who embody Islamic character and excel in providing holistic and comprehensive healthcare services based on community-oriented medicine, with a particular focus on reproductive health and nutrition.
The objective of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Education Program is to produce specialists who are competent, professional, and ethical in providing comprehensive reproductive health services. Graduates are expected to excel in the development of science and technology through research, demonstrate adaptability to the changing times, contribute actively to community service, and possess strong leadership qualities, effective communication skills, and high moral integrity.
The goal of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Education Program is to produce competent, professional, and ethical graduates; enhance the quality of relevant and applicable research; strengthen community service in the field of reproductive health; and establish collaborative networks at both the national and international levels.
The strategies implemented include the application of a competency-based curriculum, the reinforcement of a performance-based evaluation system, the capacity building of lecturers and staff, and the integration of research and community engagement within the learning process.
The learning methods used include case-based learning, scientific discussions, bedside teaching, clinical skills simulations, e-learning, and clinical rotations across various levels of healthcare services.
